چکیده

We have studied numerically the evolution of protostellar disks around intermediate and upper mass T Tauri stars (0.25 M⊙ < M∗ < 3.0 M⊙) that have formed self-consistently from the collapse of molecular cloud cores. In the T Tauri phase, disks settle into a self-regulated state, with low-amplitude nonaxisymmetric density perturbations persisting for at least several million years. Our main finding is that the global effect of gravitational torques due to these perturbations is to produce disk accretion rates that are of the correct magnitude to explain observed accretion onto T Tauri stars. Our models yield a correlation between accretion rate Ṁ and stellar mass M∗ that has a best fit Ṁ ∝ M ∗ , in good agreement with recent observations. We also predict a near-linear correlation between the disk accretion rate and the disk mass. The Bimodality of Accretion in T Tauri Stars and Brown Dwarfs

We present numerical solutions of the collapse of prestellar cores that lead to the formation and evolution of circumstellar disks. The disk evolution is then followed for up to three million years. A variety of models of different initial masses and rotation rates allows us to study disk accretion around brown dwarfs and low-mass T Tauri stars, with central object mass M∗ < 0.2M⊙, as well as i...

Gas content of transitional disks: a VLT/X-Shooter study of accretion and winds⋆

Context. Transitional disks are thought to be a late evolutionary stage of protoplanetary disks whose inner regions have been depleted of dust. The mechanism responsible for this depletion is still under debate. To constrain the various models it is mandatory to have a good understanding of the properties of the gas content in the inner part of the disk. Aims. Using X-Shooter broad band − UV to...

Spectra and Line Profiles of Fu Orionis Objects: Comparisons between Boundary Layer Models and Observations

We present solutions for the accretion disks and boundary layers in pre-main-sequence stars undergoing FU Orionis outbursts. These solutions differ from earlier disk solutions in that they include a self-consistent treatment of the boundary layer region. In a previous paper (Popham 1996), we showed that these stars should stop accreting angular momentum once they spin up to modest rotation rate...

Observations of T Tauri stars and young brown dwarfs suggest that the accretion rates of their disks scale strongly with the central stellar mass, approximately Ṁ ∝ M ∗ . No dependence of accretion rate on stellar mass is predicted by the simplest version of the layered disk model of Gammie (1996), in which non-thermal ionization of upper disk layers allows accretion to occur via the magnetorot...

Turbulence-driven Polar Winds from T Tauri Stars Energized by Magnetospheric Accretion

Pre-main-sequence stars are observed to be surrounded by both accretion flows and some kind of wind or jet-like outflow. Recent work by Matt and Pudritz has suggested that if classical T Tauri stars exhibit stellar winds with mass loss rates about 0.1 times their accretion rates, the wind can carry away enough angular momentum to keep the stars from being spun up unrealistically by accretion. T...
